If I Were My Own Lover

If I were my own lover,

I would serenade her songs that remind me of her beauty,

Spoil her rotten with diamonds and rubies.

Paint her portraits with red lipstick stains,

Take her hand as we dance in the rain.

Smother her with the love she deserves,

Hold her close to calm her nerves.

To confess my love to her with all my heart,

Until death do us part.
